KISD pole vaulters finish third, fourth at state

Fossil Ridge pole vaulter Jeffrey Rodriguez equaled his regional championship jump of 15 feet, six inches, but finished in third at the Class 4A track and field championships in Austin on Friday night.

Rodriguez finished behind Vidor's Jared Parker and Kaleb Sharder of Gregory-Portland. Both completed jumps of 15-9, with Parker earning first-place honors.

Keller's Taylor Theodore finished fourth in the 5A girls pole vaulting championships, clearing 12 feet even.

Mansfield pole vaulter Shade Weygandt won the title with a jump of 13, while Rockwall's Shelby Kennard and Morgan Toone pushed her with jumps of 12-9.

Fossil Ridge's girls 4-by-400-meter relay team of Shaunte'a Tutt, Blair Hawthorne, Hanan Saafir and Morgan Pettway was the only other Keller ISD entry at the state meet.

The Panthers finished seventh in their 4A race with a time of 3:58.11. Lancaster won the event, finishing in 3:40.41 to top the 4A record the school's 2001 team set.
