Candidates file more financial reports

Candidates for Keller City Council filed another round of campaign finance reports last week. The reports track campaign contributions and expenditures from April 10 to May 2.

Place 2 candidate Kevin Jerome and Place 3 candidate Bob Welch filed modified reporting in the election. That means they vow not to collect or spend $500 or more in their campaigns and are exempt from the filings.

Contributions

PLACE 2

John Baker reported $735 in contributions during the period, including $100 from Keller residents Walter Cornelius, Lexa Auld, Brenda Wyatt and Joseph McCombs; and $100 from Emily Kirby of Washington, D.C. He also reported using $1,500 of his own money on the campaign. His campaign had $1,301.47 in unspent contributions May 2.

Incumbent Mark Harness reported $270 in contributions, including $100 from Keller resident Jane Greer. His campaign reported $348 in unspent contributions on May 2.

Scott Zang reported no contributions during the period, and his campaign listed a zero balance for unspent contributions.

PLACE 3

Tom Cawthra reported $2,535.87 in contributions, including $200 contributions from Walter Cornelius of Keller and William and Joan Cawthra of Spring; $150 from Chad Collins of Keller; $135 from Paul Kelly of Keller; and $100 contributions from Kellerites Howard Coffin, Randy Kress, Quinton Artho, Timothy Falbo, Alex Tandy, Brian Adams, Mark Briggs, Tim Tucker, Gregg Rosenberger, Mark Lauden, Pete Texiera, Scott Roberts, Joel Butler, Nick Dell, Bobby Thoms and Colleyville resident Stanley Abeyta. His campaign reported $2,094 in unspent contributions as of May 2.

Incumbent Bob Kirk reported $1,291.15 in contributions, including $1,000 from the State Political Fund in Houston and $100 from Terry Thomas of Trophy Club. His campaign reported $474.82 in unspent contributions as of May 2.

PLACE 4

Incumbent Jim Carson reported $1,400 in contributions during the period, including $300 from Keller resident Mark Sanders; $250 from Doug and Shannon Miller of Keller; and $100 contributions from Keller residents John and Elaine McNaughton, Lori Ramirez, Ron Bollinger, Alvin and Sue Crain, Bill and Katie Hecht and Thomas Hughes; and $50 contributions from Keller residents Harvey Holden and Michael Ross. He reported no unspent contributions as of May 2.

Jim Thompson reported $1,465 in contributions, including $500 from Karen Thompson of Keller; $200 each from Keller residents Walter Cornelius and Gordon Wells; and $100 contributions from Keller residents David McReynolds, Michael Green and Robert Woods. His campaign reported $339.72 in unspent contributions on May 2.

Expenditures

PLACE 2

Baker spent $1,608 during the reporting period on three ads in The Keller Citizen at $536 each.

Harness spent $267 during the period: $189 for an ad in The Citizen and $78 for postage.

Zang spent $336 during the period on three ads in The Citizen at $112 each.

PLACE 3

Cawthra spent $1,168.89 in the period, including $250 for T-shirts and campaign advertising; $221.54 for food for a campaign fundraiser; $212.50 for yard sign stakes; $194.85 for signs; $135.87 for food for a campaign fundraiser and $95 for rentals related to the fundraiser.

Kirk spent $474.82, including for two ads in The Citizen at $210 each.

PLACE 4

Carson reported spending $1,036, including $931.33 on printing letters.

Thompson spent $2,432.87 during the period, including $1,318.23 on mailers; $946.64 on signs; and two ads in The Citizen at $84 each.
